Simply put, hypnosis is a state of highly
focused attention or concentration.

Hypnosis Facts

  • Hypnosis does not involve mind control, magic, unconsciousness, or sleep.

  • You cannot be made to enter hypnosis against your will.

  • Hypnosis is a natural experience that happens to most of us each day when we become absorbed in doing something like driving, working, reading, or watching TV.

  • All your senses are awake and alert while you are in a hypnotic state.

  • You are in control at all times while in hypnosis.

  • You only say and do in hypnosis what you would normally say and do.

  • You can come out of hypnosis any time you either want to or feel the need to.

  • The use of hypnosis gives you the opportunity to make changes that last.

  • Hypnotherapists work in complementary ways with physicians and other health care providers to help optimize the care patients receive.

  • Results from hypnosis can be restorative, rehabilitative, curative and, seemingly, miraculous—all by harnessing the untapped power of the subconscious mind.

What happens in a session?

I start by putting you into a relaxed state of hypnosis. In this state, we can access your subconscious mind and revisit key moments in your past that contributed to the formation of your most deeply held beliefs, the beliefs that drive your actions in the present.

The aim is to give new meaning to these scenes in your life and to challenge previous interpretations of them. We consider three or four scenes and work together to understand their meaning for you. I then provide your mind with suggestions, which lead to new beliefs that are more in line with what you truly want for yourself.

The mind learns by repetition, so I will give you a personalized recording of these suggestions to listen to every day. Soon after, you will have remade yourself by generating new patterns of thought that lead to new patterns of behavior.

Ramona, what if I can't be hypnotized?
